Modern Bohemian: Rooms I'd Copy Right Now

Hi gang! I’m back with more design goodness. This installment on bohemian style will focus on spaces that still feel modern + contemporary; doing a great job of working and weaving in pieces with character, vintage artwork, timeless furniture, and some pops of funky fun here and there.

To Nail Modern Bohemian Style…

  • Don’t be afraid to mix (textures + colors; old + new furniture pieces; artwork/frames in different styles + colors; etc.!)

  • Don’t be afraid to step back in time

The next few pictures are from Peter Mikic’s charming Notting Hill townhome; which I find to be extra swoony! I love his style blend and his mixture of classic period pieces mixed with poppy bold modern elements.

Peek that funky end table above!

I think this room does a great job at mixing fun and formal.

I think at the end of the day - for me - it’s about blending funky or fun elements with interesting older pieces in a modern setting. Or flip-flopped: an older setting paired with interesting items and contemporary components. Catch my drift?
This pairing of old + new is a perfect way to create a space that feels fresh while still adding in elements of interest (bring on your weird knick-knacks) that go beyond the idea of clean and crisp modernism.

Whichever style, or styles, you gravitate towards, I hope a few of these spaces have been a source of eye candy for you!
