Spotlight Feature: RACHAEL HAVENHAND. Interior Designer? Or Rainbow Incarnate?
Our Spotlight Feature this week is on the gloriously quirky, up-and-coming UK interior designer & color-loving Queen, Rachael Havenhand — and the fabulous realm that is Rachael Havenhand Design.
I kind of imagine her house being akin to what a unicorn’s would look like in my head.
If you told me I was going over to a unicorn’s house for the first time, and I walked up, knocked on the door, stepped inside, and saw this space. . . I’d be like, “yeah— seems about right.” Just like I thought walking into a unicorn’s house would be like.
Or like stepping inside of a rainbow.
Or like going inside The Barbie Dreamhouse. . . on acid.
No matter how you see it, Rachael’s style is irreverently playful and — and I love, love, love it. If I had to describe her style in one word, it’s simple. FUN. The girl is just pure fun.
We’ve been talking a lot about MAXIMALISM — and Rachael’s version sets a whole new bar. Her home is like stepping inside a funky pop art rainbow. There’s enough color and stimuli to keep your eyeballs busy the entire time. Her house definitely gives me FOMO and makes me ready to bust out of a rental and buy our own space so I can start going crazy on it!

If you want to dip your toe in the waters of maximalism or just a more bold + vibrant personality-infused style in general, Rachael’s account on instagram is a great reference and jumping off point. She’s really transformed their space over the years, and if you lurk through her account like I did when I was first ogling her amazingness, you can see how she’s changed beloved rooms, spaces, and pieces over and over again to re-work them to her liking.
She’s also the perfect example of the power of how creativity and how far a can of paint can take you in transforming your space. Your approach can be as simple or as extreme as your budget and style allows — Rachael’s home is simply proof that paint will let you pour (pun intended!) your personality into your space.

Between the cellophane tinsel fringe curtain and the hand-painted floors, my heart and brain are in overdrive.
Rachael’s rainbow palace is home to her and her family in Todwick, Sheffield UK. She’s a mama to two beautiful little girls that get to share in her fun and creation, and while she’s working on her interior design certification she also works as a fitness instructor! Can you say powerhouse?
And could you imagine living in such a fun and colorful home as a little girl?! It’s like the coolest playhouse ever - come to life! Rachael shares a lot of poignant and honest behind the scenes family life on her instagram, too, that I really admire & appreciate. She’s humble, funny, and down to earth; and through her family’s joys and struggles she continues to share and bring in lots of color, laughter, love, and light into their space.

this christmas tree setting is a pop art vision.
I’ve been on the lookout for a white tree for a few years but still haven’t managed to find a good enough deal on one to make the leap — but I LOVE them! There’s something so marvelously mid-century and retro about them. They’re just special.
I love her setup here, with some Beatles and Marilyn action in the background? Yes please.
Most of the artwork you see sparkling throughout the house was designed by Rachael, too, and is available for purchase in her Etsy shop! I was curious about her “Ba De Ya” print, because it didn’t register at first . . . so I went to her Etsy shop and saw in the description that it’s inspired by Earth Wind + Fire’s famous “September” lyrics!
NOW I CAN’T GET IT OUT OF MY HEAD! Ha!
