Swoony Home Libraries We're Coveting

If you’re like me and you like old things, curious things, and just collecting interesting relics and pieces of knowledge, then you probably love you some books, too! I wouldn’t say I’m a complete bookworm or a total bibliophile though… Simply because I go through spans of voracious reading where I’m between a few books at a time; and other periods where books don’t tempt or interest me one bit and I’d rather be doing things with my hands or outside exploring.

But for so many reasons, I am a book lover, collector, and admirer.
(Check out my post on my most recent book purchases/wishlist here.

Over a years I’ve made a dent and scored big at “Friends of The Library” sales and estate sales - which are a great way to fill multiple IKEA bags with books for not much money.

One day we hope we can have a little reading nook or home library with as much character as some of these spaces!
(Rolling Library ladder is gonna be a must there.)

See it above? Peep that rolling library ladder? (Gimme. Gimme. Gimme.)

I also love how they added some heavy drapery/curtain panels in the mix to add a little variation and I suppose to give you the option of hiding your library away if you wanted to change the feel of the space. Plus the light is just beautiful.

The combination of Kelly/Emerald green, the crystal chandelier, the animal bird prints and printed stools are seriously doing it for me here. *Chef’s Kiss.

This room checks both boxes when it comes to my love for:

Remember that scene in Beauty & The Beast where he gifts her his library? Yeah I remember being a kid and being like “Okay that would be cool. No strings attached? Like… I don’t have to make out with you while you’re hairy and have your beast-human children? Okay, deal.”

This space below might be my favorite of the bunch. Can you imagine cozying up in here with a really good book during a rainstorm? Yeah me neither, it sounds absolutely perfect.

This tall library ladder and the color-block organization in this black and white space above is an aesthetically pleasing bibliophile’s dream!

A good amount of these home libraries,
reading nooks, and
cozy corners
are easily attainable if you just commit an area of the house to shelving or built-ins of some kind.

What I like about going DIY:
You can work some basic modular bookcases or shelving pieces together, and if the color scheme matches your wall color it will look like a luxe built-in unit! (Remember you can always paint as needed.)

Result? Create your own bookworm heaven.

Oh those magical home libraries, reading nooks, and cozy corners… I’ll get there one day! And I’ll hopefully have a library ladder that Belle and fellow bibliophiles would approve of … or at least an amazingly swanky blue chaise to read & lounge on like Keith Richards here.
