I love to doodle.
when I found out our ipad was compatible with an Apple Pencil, I did some research, watched some reviews on youtube, then decided to go for it! I bought a first generation pencil to digitally doodle with… and i freakin love it!
Jeez Louise, the thing is amazing. If you have an iPad that’s compatible with it and you’ve been considering buying one, I’M HERE TO TELL YOU TO DO IT! (I’ve got some linked below you can check out and shop.)
It’s been very fun trying my hand at digital painting and illustrating with so much precision and control. I’ve also had lots of fun getting back into digital editing (which I’ve always enjoyed doing) but with a new painting twist; getting creative with some of my favorite landscape & adventure shots from over the years has given me a big breath of creative fresh air.

Illustration + graphic design Apps I Like:
Procreate
Adobe Lightroom
PicsArt
Canva
I shelled out ten bucks for the Procreate app to have full access to a range of digital “paint brushes” and different illustration style tools. I really like it. Definitely worth the $10 if you want to have lots of different options. I also like Procreate for creating on a blank canvas. (I’m much less daunted by a blank digital canvas than I am a big wrapped REAL one!) Procreate has been my go-to for all access to every kind of imaginable digital paintbrush style, sketching tool, scripting brush, etc. etc.
I’ve also been using Canva and PicsArt for putting together quick Pinterest and Instagram post/story graphics, as well as on some of my photo dreamscape edits.
I decided to splurge the $55 on PicsArt’s annual Gold plan too, which gives me full access to all of their tools. I’m really liking it so far! The largest appeal of PicsArt to me? There’s no annual commitment and you can cancel at any time.
Adobe Lightroom is my go to for initial photo editing and tweaks. I like being able to create presets for my favorite color compositions/lighting styles/etc. Lightroom also gives you lots of fine tuning tools to enhance particular colors or details in a photo.

It’s been truly the most fun toy I’ve purchased for myself in many years! If your iPad is compatible for one I’m here telling you - DO IT. I’m giving it my 10 out of 10 stamp of approval. (Plus you deserve to explore some creative fun and invest in YOURSELF!)
