More 21st Century Modern Farmhouse Feels
My longtime dream is to someday buy a cool piece of property⦠which will eventually mean that my dream will include building our own house one day, too!
So that means weβll have to build something new and figure out how to incorporate different elements - be they used, weathered, reclaimed, etc., so it doesnβt feel like βnew constructionβ. Iβd rather live in a 100 year old farmhouse or an old craftsmanβ¦ but that wonβt be likely possible right out of the gate, so Iβll do my darnedest to make whatever we build feel that way!
So Iβm gathering more farmhouse fodder + vibes (thatβs right yβall, this ainβt my first farmhouse style-inspired post!) that mix some new construction & design elements, too. I love the timber beams and reclaimed railroad ties you see peppered into farmhouse ceilings. I love the crisp, clean palettes and timeless design that carry through so many of my favorite kitchens and living rooms. I love the mix of mod chandeliers and mid-century furniture with the wood, metal, and white.
IDK about you, but I feel like Chip & Jo would approve of all of these spacesβ¦ so Iβm taking notes.

Shown above: The wood ceiling with the modern chandelier in this kitchen is so dreamy! Works wonderfully with the crisp white subway tiling. I also like the exposed shelving on the left to show off some of your nicer pieces of pottery or dishware - then also having some closed traditional cabinets to hide all of the other crazy kitchen gadgets & supplies that donβt look as neat.
Give me all of thisβ¦

Did you peep the tiling that lines the fireplace on the living room above? Subtle design accent with a cool modern feel! Iβm also really digging the crispy white built-in bookcases and how they tie in with the mantel and hearth, too.

Okay, back to more goodness.
The room below. Wow. From the ceiling, the chandeliers, the sliding barn doors, to the major glam farmhouse vibe that you can see as the hallway opens up into the open-air living room. This is goals. Letβs throw in the pony in the background too, shall we?

Check out this outdoor dining space!
This is the outdoor eating, lounging, hang space setup Iβm after right here, yβallβ¦
This would be so cool to hang out under during a rainstorm, and perfect in any weather for enjoying your early morning coffee and a book, too.

Shown above: Iβm loving this pistachio green almost French country meets mid century vibe in this sweet sitting space. Itβs like a room out of Pride & Prejudice with a chair from my retro dreams. Insert heart eyes emoji here.
And the green courtyard space shown below? Okay maybe itβs a stretch on 21st century farmhouseβ¦ but as long as Iβm here putting together ideas for my own someday-dream-home letβs put this on for good measure because IT IS SO DREAMY. Yes. Add interior greenspace/courtyard to my list of must-haves.

This house - pictured above and below - seriously pulls at my Floridian heart strings. It reminds me of an old-Florida plantation home. Love it!

Iβm pulling so many ideas from all these bright, light, crispy airy spaces. . . I love it! A creamy neutrally colored + designed room will always lends itself well to a restful space thatβs timelessly appealing and always on trend.
Have you adventured down the home-building path? How did it go? Iβm really intrigued by shipping container designs because I like the potential for the modular build-style, plus itβll scratch my sustainability-background itch if I can reclaim + repurpose some unused ones. There are so many options for recladding the outside to take away some of the industrial vibe, too, which weβd probably do a little of! I like a little metal/industrial vibe, but probably mixed with some wood as well.
Whether youβre in the near or far-off planning (or even dreaming) stage of home building or design, I hope youβve enjoyed some of these classic spaces!
